Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan, or more commonly known as Wat Arun, is a Buddhist temple located on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya River. Named after the Hindu god Aruna, the temple is often regarded as the “radiations of the rising sun, hence earning it its nickname of “The Temple of Dawn”. Originally built in the 17th century and later upgraded in the early 19th century, the temple consists of a main prang (spire) surrounded by 4 minarets.
